Suspiro has dual meanings in Portuguese, referring to both a meringue dessert and to a sigh, the exaltation of relief or distress. Each sense resonates with the materiality and temperament of my paintings. Guided by introspections surrounding literature- such as the poems of Dylan Thomas and Clarice Lispector's writings, music, and day-to-day life, I add centralized writing gestures to the canvas. Afterward, acrylic paint limits are tested by adding layers of mass and transparency, modifying the scripts' visibility, meaning, and insight for the beginning of the process for my viewers.
